Welcome back to Term 3!

We hope the break gave everyone a chance to rest, recharge, and reflect.

This is an important term for Year 9, where you'll continue to build your skills, take on new challenges, and work towards your goals. Whether you’re diving deeper into your subjects, exploring new interests, or starting to think about future pathways, there’s so much ahead to discover and achieve.

Keep up the hard work, stay curious, and make the most of every opportunity this term!

Let’s make it a term filled with focus, growth, and achievement, and one to remember.

Warm regards,

The Year 9 Hub Team

2025 Year 9 Academic Excellence Luncheon

To mark the end of Semester 1, we were proud to host the Year 9 Top Academic Lunch – a special event celebrating the outstanding achievements of our students. Held on Tuesday 1st July, the lunch recognized those who have consistently demonstrated dedication, effort, and academic excellence across all subject areas.

Students enjoyed a catered lunch of delicious pizza, in a relaxed and festive atmosphere, joined by teachers and leaders who congratulated them for their impressive results and commitment to learning. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on their hard work and encourage them to continue striving for success in Semester 2.

A huge congratulations to all students invited – your efforts have truly paid off!

Last Day of Term 2 Fun!

To celebrate the end of Term 2, our Year 9 students enjoyed a well-earned break from the classroom with a fun-filled afternoon of music, basketball, and a classic sausage sizzle!

Thank you to our amazing helpers who cooked up a storm for everyone. This fun filled afternoon brought students and staff together for some lighthearted competition and great vibes. Friendly basketball games saw students take on teachers in spirited matches that had everyone cheering from the sidelines. The beats were pumping, the sausages were sizzling, and the smiles were everywhere!

It was the perfect way to wrap up a big semester, giving everyone a chance to relax, connect, and have some fun.

Dress To Impress

In Textiles, Rubyrose created this amazing hooded dress, a dress that showcases incredible skill, creativity, and dedication. From designing the pattern to perfecting the fit, this project demonstrates the hard work and passion that goes into fashion design and sewing.

Great work Rubyrose!

Science Fun

Last Term, our science class embarked on a sweet and fizzy adventure as we learned the chemistry behind sherbet.

Students had the opportunity to make their very own sherbet by mixing baking soda, citric acid, powdered sugar, and fruit flavouring. The best part? They got to experience the chemical reaction firsthand, as the citric acid and baking soda combined to create a fizzy, effervescent sensation. Talk about science you can taste!

The students had a BLAST (literally!) making volcanos in Science class. Students learnt about the science of volcanic eruptions, the chemical reactions involved, and how pressure and gases build up inside the Earth to cause these explosive events. It's always amazing to see how much students can learn when they’re actively involved in the process.

Girls AFL class in Action

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new Girls’ AFL Class! This exciting new addition is designed to give young girls the chance to experience the thrill of Australian Rules Football, learn new skills, and develop teamwork and leadership.

Throughout the course, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of AFL, including kicking, handballing, marking, and game strategies. But it’s not just about the skills — we’re also focusing on building confidence, resilience, and fostering a strong sense of community and teamwork.

To build skills, teamwork, and confidence, the Year 9 boys’ and girls’ AFL classes have been joining together for a co-ed training session. This session will focus on core AFL drills including: kicking accuracy, handball technique, marking and ball control, some small-sided games and much more!

Chasing Greatness

Our Year 9 PE class gave their all when completing the Beep Test this week. The students showed real resilience and pushed themselves to achieve their highest score.

Wet Weather Days

Rainy days haven’t dampened our students’ spirits! With the oval out of action during wet weather, our students have been getting creative indoors. One of the big hits last term? A spontaneous ping-pong ball game invented by a group of clever kids! Both students and staff were having a go!
