School Strategic Plan

(2021 - 2024)

  • Goal 1 - To target and accelerate student learning growth.
  • Goal 2 - To build capabilities of middle leaders to support high impact practice.
  • Goal 3 -  To improve the resilience and social capabilities of each student.

AIP 2024

Vision

LPS provides a safe and happy learning environment, in which children are able to achieve their potential. It is a school where trust, respect and valuing others are fundamental beliefs.

Philosophy

We believe that education extends beyond academics—it is about nurturing well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to their communities. Our approach to teaching and learning is guided by the belief that every child deserves a high-quality education that:

  • Encourages critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving
  • Fosters empathy, integrity, and respect
  • Instills a lifelong love of learning
  • Promotes active participation in a global society

Mission

LPS is committed to educational excellence and providing children with the opportunity to learn to the best of their ability.

Our goal is to develop students’ skills, attitudes, and abilities so they can achieve their highest academic, creative, and social potential while making meaningful contributions throughout their lives.

We accomplish this by:

  • Delivering a rigorous, engaging, and personalised curriculum that empowers students to take ownership of their learning.
  • Supporting a dedicated team of educators committed to excellence in teaching and continuous professional growth.
  • Creating a collaborative school culture that actively involves students, parents, and the wider community in the learning journey.
  • Fostering an inclusive and respectful environment that values and celebrates diversity.
  • Providing innovative and high-quality resources to support student learning and development.

Values

  • Optimism: We believe in fostering a positive mindset where challenges are seen as opportunities for growth, and every student is encouraged to strive for success.
  • Respect: We create an environment where everyone feels valued and heard, fostering a culture of kindness, understanding, and appreciation.
  • Integrity: We encourage honesty, accountability, and strong moral principles in all aspects of school life.
  • Empathy:  We teach students to understand and respect different perspectives, promoting compassion and inclusivity.
  • Responsibility:  We empower students to take ownership of their learning, actions, and contributions to the school and wider community.

LPS acknowledge the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which we meet, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

LPS embraces the vision of the Marrung Aboriginal Education Plan and celebrates the culture, knowledge and experiences of First Nations Peoples. We are committed to creating and maintaining a school environment that empowers Koorie students to feel valued, respected and culturally strong.

LPS has a number of measures in place to ensure our community acknowledges and appreciates the strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. These measures are outlined in the Aboriginal Learning, Wellbeing and Safety Action Plan.

Child Safe Communication

Child safe is everyone's responsibility.  LPS is fully committed to creating and maintaining a child safe organisation and protecting students from all forms of abuse.

As such, it is crucial that parents/carers and the school community have the opportunity to have a say in the development and review of child safety and wellbeing policies and practices.

After any Child Safe incident, the school will communicate any updates of school policies and procedures as a result of a review, through the School Council papers and iNewsletter entries.

School Council will monitor on an ongoing basis the effectiveness and implementation of risk controls that have been considered in the Child Safe Risk Register.

LPS have a log of complaints and concerns to allow us to monitor areas for improvement in our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

Policy involvement

LPS has a Policy Sub Committee which focuses on policy development, consultation and ratification.  The Policy Sub Committee:

  • meet once a month
  • are always seeking feedback to ensure that policies are pure and authentic to purpose.

If you would like to a member of a Policy Sub Committee or would like to provide feedback in other ways, please contact the Office, attention Principal.

After any significant child safety event (or every two years), LPS will inform the school community of policy review and changes made to policies, or procedures as a result of the review.
