Sherwood and Thoresby Come Out On Top!
Athletics Carnival - Plenty Campus
Pranav Sudheesh, Year 12, Plenty Campus
Athletics Day this year was great fun, and I’m really proud to say Thoresby came away with the win. What made it special wasn’t just the results, but how many people actually got involved. From the first races in the morning through to the final relays, there were so many students stepping up, even if it wasn’t their usual event or they weren’t completely confident. That willingness to just give it a go made a huge difference. We had strong performances across sprints, distance, jumps and throws, but the points only added up because of the overall team effort. Sherwood, Athlestane and Lincoln pushed us the entire day. The competition was close, and it definitely wasn’t an easy win. That made the result even more rewarding.
One of the highlights of the day was the atmosphere across all the Houses. The cheering didn’t fade at all, and no matter which event was on, there were always students backing each other from the sidelines. It made the whole carnival feel competitive but still supportive, and it definitely pushed people to give their all and do their best. A huge thank you to everyone who competed, supported, or helped run the day. It was a full-House effort, and it’s something we should all be proud of.

Swimming Carnival - Ridgeway Campus
Tilly Metzner, Year 12, Ridgeway Campus
On 21 November, we had our school swimming carnival- and what a fantastic day it was! The day was filled a range of activities from races, to volleyball, and House chants. It was great to see participation from everyone. The energy, encouragement, and House spirit reflected what our school community is all about.
As the swimming carnival came to a close, the point tally was tight, and it all came down to the final race: the all-stars relay. Each House selected its best swimmer from each year level to compete, making it a whole-school event. The race was extremely close, with hardly any distance between teams, creating an exciting atmosphere around the pool. This event was a highlight for me as it brought everyone together and it was a great way to end the day.
Sherwood’s victory in the relay secured us first place overall for the swimming carnival.
However, what stood out most for me was not just this win, but the level of participation and enthusiasm shown through out the day. I am immensely proud of Sherwood and the other Houses for the commitment and teamwork demonstrated on the day!
Overall it was an amazing day and it sets up a promising year for House activities and spirit. Go Sherwood!
