An Update from the Prefects
An insight into what we do and what we hope to accomplish this year!
As a Prefect team this year, our collective goal is to create a culture of approachability and enthusiasm. We would like all students to feel comfortable sharing ideas and feedback with us, knowing we will listen and be proactive – Lily Veale, Ridgeway Campus

School Captains
Maya Hopper & Kevan Abraham, Plenty Campus
As School Captains this year, we are working closely with Ridgeway Campus Captains to promote cross-campus connection, co-curricular involvement and fostering an inclusive, supportive culture across our school. We are also collaborating with our Prefects to plan and organise engagements that strengthen House and cross-year level connections to make this year a great one.
Liz Tan & Xavier Chy, Ridgeway Campus
Our role as School Captains is to be the leaders at the forefront of the School. We lead the Prefect team by organising meetings, being a place of communication between the student body and teachers, as well as ensuring people's wellbeing is balanced. We want to broaden participation and engagement in activities, such as academic initiatives, service projects, or House-based events, to ensure more students feel included and represented. We are also excited to work closely with the team in shaping a collective vision that reflects our values and aspirations for the School. Above all, we look forward to getting to know our cohort better, so we can advocate for their ideas, amplify their voices, and ensure everyone feels heard throughout the year.
New and International Student Prefects
Tiffany Moutsos, Kathy Shen & Andy Wang, Ridgway Campus
This year, our focus has been strengthening connection and belonging across our school. Regular New and International Student Council meetings have created stronger opportunities for student voice, while the Early Commencement period allowed us to personally welcome both domestic and international students as they began their journey at Ivanhoe Grammar School. We also supported the ELICOS Graduation and celebrated Chinese New Year with a dumpling fundraiser and school-wide decorations that brought the community together.
Looking ahead, plans are underway for Welcome Lunches for new students, an International Student Mentoring Program and a future Multicultural Week. Together, these initiatives aim to celebrate the diversity that defines Ivanhoe and ensure every new student feels supported, included and confident from their very first day.

Primary Prefects
Tasharny De Cata, Grace Daly & Tiora Gunatilake, Plenty Campus
In 2026, we are hoping to create a more connected community with our primary and senior years. We aim to provide many opportunities for connection and inclusion and hope to form a more united and amusing year for both senior and primary students.
Middle Years Prefects
Kate Hopper, Will Doman & Serena Hindley, Plenty Campus
This year we aim to create more cohesion between year levels with a greater connection between Senior Years and Middle Years students. We are hoping to organise a session to introduce co-curricular activities to students and prepare them for University Campus.
Alice Waite, Emily Bertram, Will Cashen & Isabella Ciavarella, Ridgeway Campus
As a portfolio, we have two primary objectives. Firstly, to strengthen a cohesive Ivanhoe Grammar School spirit and secondly to be a strong network of support for fellow students to address issues that concern them. To do this, we want to incorporate greater cross-campus activities (such as a teddy bear picnic with Buckley House, or a fun-run with Plenty Campus), and be compassionate and approachable leaders to our peers.
Senior Years Prefects
Jahnavi Srikantha, Julian Petrovski & Gus Singh, Plenty Campus
In our role we are aiming to address a range of areas to engage our Year 10, 11 and 12 students as they enter the final stages of their secondary school journey. Just recently in ECP, we have hosted the first Year 12 Kris Kringle which brought together our cohort in a festive and united way to end the year.
Harriet Brown, Sophie Chuter & Ranjiv Bhar, Ridgeway Campus
This year we would like to achieve a successful formal for our Year 12s, including the creation of a creative and inclusive formal video that reflects us as a year level. Additionally, we would like to create a week-long celebration week towards the start of Term 3, (before SWOTVAC) in which there are themed days and activities that allow us to come together and celebrate our growth as a year level as well as our connections throughout the school. In saying that, we would like to encompass all year levels in spirit/celebration week, so that we would be able to come together as one school. This would involve dress ups, colour runs and games- our goal is to create a week that everyone will love.
One of our main focuses this year will also be to encourage participation and school spirit, we hope to see in the biggest year of the Ivy Army cheer squad to date!
We are also excited to announce that the Year 12 jumpers are in the production process and will hopefully be worn by the end of term.
Global Engagement Prefects
Zaynab Syed, Oscar He & Hamish Waddell, Ridgeway Campus
The Global Engagement Prefects usually have a focus on sustainability, as well as Reconciliation Week, where we run projects and activities that align with these issues. In addition, we run forums that give the student body an opportunity to discuss their opinions and ideas in relation to these causes and what we could do at the school to acknowledge them. In 2026, as well as keeping these traditions going, we also hope to expand upon these core ideas by running more programs and initiatives. As always, we prioritise student voice as much as we can, so we are open to suggestions as to what you would like to see from us this year. Let us know.
House Prefects
💙Thoresby:
Lily Veale and Harry Sze, Ridgeway Campus
As Thoresby House Prefects, we aim to continue running initiatives that are already apart of Ivanhoe Grammar School culture, and we are ready to embrace and implement new ideas/initiatives. We are committed to building a strong sense of house spirit by encouraging participation and actively listening to student feedback. We have already successfully completed the House Swimming Carnival, and now we have the House Athletics Carnival coming up, where we will try to increase involvement and enthusiasm for house spirit even more.
Throughout this year, there will be many more opportunities to get involved in house activities such as House arts, the colour fun run, and possibly a House music video competition and some service initiatives. Ultimately, our goal is to secure the house shield, but this will only be achieved with a collaborative, enthusiastic, and determined group. We believe that Thoresby upholds these qualities, and we are motivated to lead Thoresby through this year with that in mind!
Pranav Sudheesh & Emily Webb, Plenty Campus
For 2026, we plan to utilise our new house system to bring the students of Thoresby together and encourage a stronger house spirit and bond. Our goal is for everyone, regardless of year level, to interact and collaborate with one another, and feel comfortable approaching us as house captains for anything they need. Most importantly, we want to smash the other Houses and get the House Shield!
❤️Sherwood:
Eleanor Shephard & Lachlan Byrne, Plenty Campus
As Sherwood Prefects this year, we are ecstatic that we get to set the tone for what house structured leadership can look like at the Plenty Campus. We want to establish an exciting, engaging community within Sherwood and help our peers adapt to the new vertical House- based system in a fun, compassionate way. We look forward to the challenge.
💛Athelstane:
Luciana Pastrana Martinez & Rowan Sharples, Plenty Campus
As Athelstane House Prefects this year, we have been lifting our house spirits up, creating new bonds and enjoying the new opportunities our new house system has presented to us, such as being able to form new connections and mentor younger year levels. As Athelstane House Prefects we aim to maintain a high sense of community and support within Athelstane through team building sport and cognitive activities and encouraging our house members to form new connections and help each other when they can.
💚Lincoln:
Will Hopper & Scarlett Boicovitis, Plenty Campus
This year as Lincoln House Prefects we can’t wait to work with our house and we are especially keen for the house carnivals coming up! We cannot wait for our house to show its commitment and spirit. 2026 is going to be a big and exciting year in the new house system, and it will come with many new opportunities. We are very excited for a successful year ahead, LETS GO LINCOLN!
