From the Principal...

Hi everyone and welcome to the latest newsletter.

I would like to extend a huge thank-you to our community for all that you do each day in supporting your children but also in supporting the school. It has been to so great to see so many parents helping out in many ways over time.

This is sometimes visible to everyone ie: at camp, excursion, library club, Oz Harvest, athletics carnival, gardening program etc. but also often invisible. This may be the time and effort to co-ordinate events and fundraisers ie: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, trivia night, colour run, concert, etc. This is also the work you put in at home each and every day in supporting your child/ren reading, preparing for the day ahead, reflecting on the day enjoyed, supporting the social and emotional development of your children; the list is long but very much appreciated and noted from MEPS. The relationship with home is invaluable to us in providing the experiences we do at school each day.

We are very fortunate and grateful to have such a supportive school community that allows us to strive toward our high expectations.

Amazingly, we look ahead to the final two weeks of term 3; which I’m sure will be well received by many students whom appreciated the holidays to refresh and recharge after a busy term!

Please be reminded that school concludes onFriday 18 September at 2.15pm.

A few dates of note across the next week:

September 7-9: Year 6 Camp

September 10: RUOK? Comfy Cosy Clothing / Pyjamas with a splash of orange (gold coin)

September 11: District Athletics

Book Week

What a wonderful Book Week we had at our school! It was a fantastic opportunity for students to celebrate their love of reading, discover new stories, and let their imaginations shine.

One of the highlights of the week was our Book Week Dress-Up Parade. It was wonderful to see our students arrive dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing much-loved stories to life. From superheroes and adventurous explorers to magical characters and beloved storybook favourites, the creativity and enthusiasm on display were truly inspiring.

The parade was filled with smiles, excitement and plenty of storytelling. Students proudly shared their costumes with their classmates and enjoyed seeing the wonderful characters brought to life by others.

Book Week reminded us that books can transport us to new worlds, introduce us to fascinating characters, spark our imagination and help us see the world from different perspectives. Most importantly, it was a joyful celebration of reading and the special place books hold in our school community.

A big thank you to our students, families and staff for making Book Week such a memorable and colourful celebration. We look forward to continuing to foster a lifelong love of books and reading!

Year 3 camp

This week I had the pleasure of attending the year 3 camp at Golden Valleys Lodge in Red Hill. This was a fantastic experience for all the students involved. It was great to see the students building their independence, challenging themselves in the activities, connecting as a group, building pride on their achievements and spending time valuing each other through some guided reflections and feedback.

Thank-you to the staff and parent team for their amazing work in supporting the experience and all the students to have success and loads of fun!! Mr. Cosham, Mrs Leardi, Mrs. Wilkie, Mrs, Thomas, Liz and Bridget!

A special and big thank-you to the parents who volunteered their time in supporting such a wonderful camp experience: Brenden, Vic, Bree and Christine.

Year 6 camp

We are excitedly looking ahead to the year 6 camp next week. From Monday – Wednesday our Year 6 students will be headed to Bayview Adventure Camp in Grantville. This promises to be a fun and action packed camp experience for everyone!

Acknowledging the impact Men have in our lives!

This afternoon we’ll enjoy celebrating Father’s Day with an afternoon tea to acknowledge and appreciate the special men in our lives. To these people across the MEPS community, I thank-you for the important and significant role your play in the student’s lives and across our community. I hope you are celebrated and acknowledged on Sunday and that you enjoy the appreciation that comes your way.

A BIG thank-you to the community links team who have done so much work behind the scenes to support today’s celebration and for the appreciation that each student will take home this afternoon.

Sunsmart

Just a friendly reminder that from 1st September through to the end of April, all students are required to wear a sun-safe school hat whenever they're outside.

This is part our Sunsmart policy to help keep everyone safe in the sun. Our "No Hat, No Play" rule will be in place in week 10 — students without a hat will need to stay in the shaded areas during recess and lunch. This will provide next week as the time to dust off the hats, make sure they’re clearly named and labelled whilst we build our summer habits.

To be sun-safe, hats must be a school broad-brimmed style hat, which protect the face, neck, and ears.

If your child needs a new hat, the school uniform shop is available.

Thanks for helping us keep our students safe and sun-smart! 😎
