VCE Year 11 Outdoor and Environmental Studies Rafting Camp
The Year 11 VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies class recently headed out for their final camp of the year, exploring the beautiful Yarra River at Wonga Park and its surrounding areas. Students enjoyed the opportunity to paddle down the river in rafts, developing their teamwork, communication and outdoor skills while experiencing the natural environment firsthand.
The experience allowed students to connect their classroom learning with the real world, exploring the impacts of recreational activities on the environment while practising teamwork, risk management and minimal impact strategies. Students will complete a logbook entry reflecting on their observations, learning and interactions with the outdoor environment, bringing their practical experiences and VCE curriculum together.

Discovering the Art of Matcha 🍵🍃
Matcha is becoming increasingly popular here in Australia and around the world, but did you know that the preparation, serving and drinking of matcha are deeply rooted in Japanese culture?
On 16 October, during their final Japanese lesson for the Year 12 VCE students, all VCE Japanese students had the opportunity to experience 茶道 (sadō), the Japanese tea ceremony, and learn how to prepare, serve and enjoy matcha.
After watching a preparatory video and observing a demonstration, the students whisked bowls of matcha using a bamboo whisk called a chasen. The frothy matcha was then served to their classmates, who followed traditional etiquette, including exchanging greetings, rotating the tea bowl before drinking, sipping the tea and admiring the ceramic ware.
Some of these students have chosen sadō as a topic for their exams including VCE Japanese exams. I wish them the best of luck in demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of this beautiful Japanese tradition!

🏅Sporting Excellence: Milica Mrdic Takes the National Stage!
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding basketball achievements of our very own Milica Mrdic! Mili has been making waves on the basketball court, showcasing incredible talent, dedication, and sportsmanship at both the state and national levels.
Last year, Mili won a Gold Medal playing for the Victoria Metro Women's team Under-16 Australian Basketball Championships.
This year, representing Victoria Metro as a bottom-age player, Mili played a pivotal role in securing a spectacular Silver Medal at the 2026 Under-16 National Championships. Her dominant performances on the court as a small forward/power forward/centre have caught the attention of national selectors, earning her a coveted spot at the 2026 Under-15 Australian Sapphires Selection Camp. This camp marks the exciting first step on the pathway toward the 2028 Under-17 World Cup!
Mili's basketball journey is also taking her global. She was recently selected for the Victoria Select Women's team to compete internationally in Seoul, South Korea, for the prestigious WKBL Futures League tournament. Additionally, she has been named to represent Australia with the Under-15 Australian Sapphires at the upcoming FIBA Under-15 Oceania Cup in Auckland, New Zealand.
When she isn't donning green and gold or Victorian blue, Mili stars locally for the Dandenong Rangers, where she is known for her elite rim protection and game-changing rebounding along with her scoring ability and versatility on the court.
Please join us in congratulating Mili on these phenomenal milestones. We wish her the absolute best of luck as she takes on New Zealand and South Korea—the whole Nazareth community is cheering you on!

Year 8 Visual Communication Design
As part of Year 8 Visual Communication Design, students were set the task of producing their own Superhero/Character Cityscapes to expand their knowledge of different drawing methods. To produce these unique drawings, they were introduced to the drawing method of Two-Point Perspective. This enabled the students to draw 3D cities, close to how we would see them with our own eyes if we were looking at them from a distance. To further enhance these cities, they were required to add superheroes, villains, anti-heroes, or characters to tell a story in their drawings. Please take a look at their distinctive pieces below.

Year 10 Cook Up a 'Bagel Bonanza' for Healthy Eating
Our Year 10 Food Studies students recently stepped into the role of food stylist for their latest design brief: the "Bagel Bonanza" recipe project.
Tasked with creating an on-trend, savoury bagel filling, students had to balance culinary creativity with strict nutritional and design guidelines. The recipe they created needed to align with the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating, challenge students to pack in at least three different vegetables, consider presentation techniques, all while keeping the prep time under a speedy 30 minutes.
The results were outstanding, showcasing creativity and aesthetic flair. Congratulations to all students for their terrific efforts.

Year 7 Information Technology
Information Technology has been interesting this semester. We started by coding our Micro: bits to play games, make sounds and do different things. We learnt how to program them and fix coding errors. We also made our own Micro: bits say our names, and we even made it into a dice, we are now working in teams and we have created a netball survey. We had surveyed people in our class to collect information and data about how well they know netball. We have also learnt how to take meeting minutes, share ideas and work together. Overall, this term has helped us improve our coding, teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.
-Sophie Dimovski, Year 7 student
In Information Technology this term, we have been learning about coding and how technology can be used to help people. We used Micro: bits to create different activities and learned how to make our code work properly. This sometimes took a few attempts, but it helped us learn from our mistakes. We have also started a group project where we make a survey and we chose netball. During this project, we have been sharing ideas, gathering information and learning how to work effectively with our classmates. Overall, the subject has helped us build our teamwork, creativity and technology skills.
-Jessica Mackay, Year 7 student
This term in Year 7 Information Technology, we have had the chance to explore coding and learn more about how the Micro: bits work. One of my favourite parts was making the Micro: bits play different sounds and spell out our names. It was fun to experiment with the different features and see what we could create. We also worked in a group of three to research netball and investigate a problem related to it. We collected information, discussed our findings and shared ideas about possible solutions. These activities have helped us develop our creativity, communication and problem-solving skills while learning new things.
