Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

YEAR 12 EVENTS
Over the past two weeks, we have celebrated the Class of 2026 through a range of special events, including a Farewell Assembly, Dress-Up Breakfast, Graduation Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral and Graduation Dinner at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Each event was a wonderful success and a fitting celebration of our graduating students.
The College has developed and refined a formula over the years that has been highly effective in marking the conclusion of our Year 12 students’ school journey with joy, dignity and respect, in a manner befitting such a significant occasion.
The success of these events is due to the diligence, commitment and hard work of our Head of House Team and Mr Victor Brusco. We are very grateful for their efforts, which go far beyond their role descriptions.
I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful Year 12 Class of 2026. The events were equally successful because of the exemplary way in which the students conducted themselves throughout these celebrations. I do not believe there would be a school in Melbourne with students who are more respectful or better behaved than the Nazareth Year 12 students. They are a credit to themselves, their families, and the College. We are truly blessed to have had them in our community, and we wish them God’s abundant blessings in their examinations and as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
CHILD SAFETY
We have received reports from the council crossing supervisors of some students crossing in an unsafe manner and not using the designated crossings. We ask parents to reinforce with their children the importance of using the designated crossings, following the directions of crossing supervisors, and complying with all road safety rules. Student safety remains our highest priority, and we appreciate your support in helping to keep all members of our community safe.
LOOKING AHEAD
At this point in the term, the examinations are approaching quickly for our Year 9, 10 and 11 students, while VCE examinations are already underway for our Year 12 students.
This is an important time for all students to maintain their focus and continue building on the learning they have undertaken throughout the year. For many of our students, the habits and momentum established during this term will provide a strong foundation for the opportunities and challenges that await them in 2027. We encourage all students to continue working diligently as they prepare for examinations and complete their final assessments.
A few key dates to be aware of:
Monday 1 November and Tuesday 2 November - Student Free Days
Thursday 5 November - Year 11 Examinations commence
Friday 6 November - Year 10 Examinations commence
Friday 20 November - Student Free Day
STAFFING
Our Chisholm Head of House, Ms Gill Coyle, has commenced Long Service Leave. Ms Joanna Marletta will be the Acting Chisholm Head of House during this period.
Ms Marletta is a very experienced and respected member of our community who brings many years of teaching and leadership experience to the role. We are very grateful to have someone of her calibre stepping into the position while Ms Coyle is on leave.
We wish Ms Coyle a well earned and enjoyable period of leave and look forward to welcoming her back at the beginning of the 2027 school year.
PARTNERSHIP
As we continue to work in partnership with parents and guardians and support you in your role as the primary educators of your children, we encourage you to contact your child’s Pastoral Teacher at any time should you have any concerns, require support, or wish to share information that may assist us in supporting your child’s wellbeing and learning.
We hope all families enjoy the long weekend.
God Bless
Mr Justin Duckett
