Wellbeing Report

A fond farewell for our Year 12 cohort
It is hard to believe that we have reached that time of year when we farewell our Year 12 students. In the past few weeks we have held a number of farewell events, and we are so proud of the manner in which they have participated in these significant life milestones.
We have walked with them over the past six years, had so many experiences together, some highs and some challenges, and after a year of hard work, they are ready as young adults to go out into the world. We are so very proud of them!
Tuesday began the final stretch of their school life, for those completing exams. We hope that their hard work pays off and that they are able to achieve their goals and fulfil their potential.
So what is the parent’s role over the next few weeks? How can you support them?
Keeping things in perspective for students and parents alike, can help prevent everyone getting overwhelmed. Although this final year is important, it is not necessarily the most important year of your child's life.
There are many strategies that students can implement to help themselves. While you can’t do the study for them, there are many ways in which parents can provide support, not only emotionally, but also practically.
Please click on the link below to watch a short video special report on our SchoolTV website, byDr Michael Carr-Gregg, and other experts in this field. Parents will find useful tips to support their child during this often stressful time. Evidence based strategies are explained clearly, such as:
- 20-minute study rule
- ‘Say it out loud’
- Social media limitations
- Importance of sleep
- Importance of a healthy breakfast and appropriate diet
- Regular exercise
- Quiet, calm study area
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered here.

We send all of our students embarking on exams over the coming weeks our best wishes. We hope that they can stay calm and focussed, enabling them to give it their best to reach their potential. Continue to remind them to have perspective.
Teach someone what you know
Research clearly tells us that some study techniques are more powerful than others. We remember:
- 10% from reading
- 25% from hearing
- 35% from seeing
- 50% from both seeing and hearing
- 75% from discussing
- 85% from experiencing something yourself
- 95% from teaching someone else
Help your child study by giving them some time to ‘teach’ you what they know!
To our students...
The journey of education - the experiences, friendships, classes and activities each and every day, is more important than the final end mark, and the ATAR. There are so many ways to reach your goals and future aspirations.
You will be defined in life by the person you are and the way in which you treat others.
Always remember,
★You are beautiful
★You are worthy
★You are important
★You are special
★You are unique
★You are wonderful
★You are talented
And you are irreplaceable.
Best wishes for the coming weeks and the future ahead!
JOHN MILLEDGE SCHOLARSHIP – Mulgrave Country Club
Each year the Mulgrave Country Club supports local school students by offering a generous scholarship of $2000 to one Year 11 student in each of the 12 schools in their area. It is wonderful to see a local organisation really supporting and encouraging our talented young people.
📣This year, we are proud to acknowledge Jude Blake as the Nazareth College recipient of this scholarship.
Jude and his family attended the award ceremony last week and were extremely proud to represent Nazareth.
Congratulations, Jude, on this well-deserved recognition! Your enthusiasm, generosity and dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of others are truly commendable!
