Violence among young people

Recently, media have focused on violence among young people. The Netflix series Adolescence has raised parental concerns and communities have been disturbed by news reports of youths in violent, public clashes, several of which have included the use of weapons. Generation Next offers a challenging perspective on youth violence including what parents can do to address such tendencies among their children. Access this article here.

Marist Brothers’ community departing Cairns

The College has announced that the Marist Brothers' community in Cairns will close at the end of the 2025 academic year. This has been increasingly inevitable as the Brothers age and diminish in numbers, and it has been a decision made so reluctantly. Therefore, Br Roger will finish his counselling ministry at Saints at the end of the year.

Students and parents can be assured that his ministry will continue to the end of 2025. The College is committed to ensuring students are supported during this time. Ms Marijke Keller will be the ongoing mainstay of counselling at Saints, with plans in place to replace Brother's services in line with the College’s assessment of ongoing needs.
