James Anderson, Emilio Tolland and Zacharia Foster have work on display at the Receive>Respond Exhibition at the Tanks Art Centre. This exhibition is well worth a visit, with artworks on display from students and young creatives across the region.
Zacharia Foster, Thomas King and Emilio Tolland participated in the Design Tracks program organised by the Queensland Art Gallery/ Gallery of Modern Art. This was an amazing opportunity for students to learn from Indigenous artists, curators and teachers and mentors through workshops, visits to art galleries and TAFE. The program enabled students and teachers to network with other motivated, passionate and like-minded people and provided insight into post-school opportunities.
Years 11 and 12 Visual Art in Practice students recently completed the C1 and C2 unit "Clients". The boys were briefed to create an art installation for the Year 7 Quad. A series of Totem pieces was created and will be installed later this year. The totems symbolise the Three Violets, nature and culture. This will be their legacy and an inspiration for all future art students.
Year 9 Visual Art students studied ancient Greek pottery and contemporary ceramics last term. They looked at ceramic techniques and studies natural shapes. The boys combined this knowledge to create their own unique sea life ceramic pots.
Year 10 students have been studying landscapes this term. The boys have researched various artists and explored a number of techniques, including watercolour, lino printing, photography and etching. Each student captured their own landscape image, which was then used as inspiration for their final etching. This process allowed them to develop both their technical skills and creative interpretation.
