⚠️ Important Notice: Dangers of Free VPNs

We’ve recently seen several compromised student accounts linked to the use of free VPN (Virtual Private Network) services.

What is a VPN? Simply put, a VPN routes your internet traffic through someone else’s computer. While it may seem like a way to browse privately or bypass filters, many free VPNs pose serious risks, including:

  • 📂 Data risks – VPN’s may collect and sell browsing activity, logins, or personal details.
  • 🐞 Bugs/Malware – Some apps install hidden viruses or tracking software.
  • 🌍 Poor reliability – Connections are often slow, unstable, or blocked.
  • 🚫 Policy breaches – Using VPNs to bypass school protections undermines network and child safety and may result in disciplinary action.

We ask families to remind students to avoid free VPNs and use only the school’s secure, filtered EduSTAR network.
