We're now at the halfway point of the term and have had a variety of activities and events on the go across the school. There have been guest speakers across a number of subject areas, lunchtime activities to celebrate Science Week, excursions, camps and much more.
I want to thank all the families that eagerly took up the opportunity to learn about course pathways and subject offerings through our annual Course Information and Subject Expo evening. Thanks must also go to the staff who presented on the night and provided engaging and informative displays. A particular highlight was our panel of current Year 12 students who contributed to the Q&A session at each of the year level presentations. The confidence they displayed to speak in front of a packed theatre and share their varied pathway experiences was admirable. We also saw fantastic uptake of the course advising sessions earlier this month and I have no doubt that the combination of these events helped inform and shape the decisions students and families made about subject and pathway selection for students in relevant year levels.
With the final curtain falling on production 2025, Into The Woods, I want to state how proud I am of the work of our performing arts team and all the cast and crew for putting on a superb show and again working collaboratively with Kyneton High School to do so. The passion for performance was obvious in the talent on display and attention to detail in every element of the show. Well done to all involved.
So many of our students have seen success in their personal endeavours and I want to congratulate all of the students who have recently represented their respective clubs in local netball and football finals. A number of GSC students also either won or were highly ranked in the best and fairest honours and I'm sure there are many others that may have taken home honours on the day of the finals also. It's wonderful to see so many of our young people involved in team sport, congratulations to all who participated and contributed to teams this season.
This week we've had a large contingent of students at Mt Hotham on the annual Snow Camp - from all accounts they've enjoyed amazing weather with clear and sunny skies and a bumper snow season. I look forward to sharing photos in our next edition.
Our VCE-VM students are shortly due to commence their legacy projects with one group seeking donations of plants to support their work of beautifying a garden bed on the school grounds. If you're able to support this initiative we'd be most grateful - please see details in poster below (donations happily accepted during school hours).
Please note that this coming Wednesday, 27th August 2025 is a pupil free day for the school. No classes will be running and there's no supervision available for students as staff will be undertaking professional development activities.
Enjoy reading this edition and let's hope we see more of the delightful weather we've experienced this week.
Kind Regards,
