VCE-VM Students Support Local Kindergarten Through Community Project
Our VCE Vocational Major students recently participated in a rewarding community engagement project at Riddell Road Kindergarten, working in partnership with Bunnings to help rejuvenate the kindergarten’s outdoor space.
Across the day, students collaborated to complete several important tasks that will have a lasting impact on the children and staff who use the space every day. The group painted a 30-metre section of the outdoor fence, constructed new garden beds, and planted a fresh harvest to help revitalise the kindergarten’s veggie garden.
Throughout the project, students demonstrated strong teamwork, leadership and communication skills. They organised themselves into small groups, shared responsibilities and supported each other to ensure all tasks were completed safely and efficiently. Many students stepped up to guide their peers, problem-solve challenges and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
This hands-on experience allowed students to apply key personal development skills learned in the classroom to a real community setting. It also provided an opportunity to contribute positively to the local community while building confidence, collaboration and practical skills.
We would like to thank the staff at Riddell Road Kindergarten for welcoming our students and allowing them to be part of such a meaningful project, as well as our partners at Bunnings for inviting us to participate and for providing the materials and guidance that made the project possible. Our students should be proud of the positive difference they have made to the outdoor learning environment for the kindergarten children.
