HU896 Beaches & Biomes - Geography Fieldtrip
Recently, our Year 8/9 Beaches and Biomes geography classes spent a day at the Peninsula. They explored three locations: London Bridge Lookout, Sorrento Bay, and Rye Beach.
The students collected data on a range of topics, including coastal processes and management strategies. We were very lucky to have lots of sunshine, which added to the enjoyment of a day spent in nature.
At our first stop, students enjoyed beautiful views and observed examples of rock arches, caves, and headlands formed by wind and erosion. At Sorrento Bay, the students focused on human activity and interactions at the beach. Finally, at our last stop at Rye Beach, students explored natural processes such as longshore drift, as well as rock groynes and wharves.
The students gained practical knowledge to apply to their upcoming fieldwork report by using the knowledge they had learned in class and applying it during their trip. It was a great day!
