VPC City Camp
Our Vocational Pathway Certificate (VPC) students recently participated in the highly successful City Camp. The experience provided an invaluable opportunity for students to develop their independence, embrace new challenges, and build positive peer relationships in a dynamic urban setting.
The diverse itinerary allowed students to build confidence navigating the city while engaging with key cultural and recreational locations. Highlights of the camp included:
- St Kilda Exploration: Visiting the local township, historic pier, and beach precinct.
- Melbourne Zoo: Discovering wildlife education and conservation programs.
- CBD Landmarks: Navigating major city streets, the iconic Bourke Street Mall, and the State Library of Victoria.
- Retail Precincts: Developing real-world navigation skills across Melbourne Central and the QV complex.
- Cultural Dining: Touring Carlton and the Lygon Street precinct, culminating in a group dinner at Universal Restaurant.
- Eureka Tower: Viewing the Melbourne skyline at night from the observation deck.
- Southbank Promenade: Experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of Southgate during the evening. Our Year 12 Special Education students are currently on the the VPC City Camp. We will here all about their adventures when they return later today.
Orange Room Report
Students in Orange Room have been researching and learning about healthy lifestyles. We have explored healthy and unhealthy food and drink choices, including investigating the amount of sugar contained in different drinks and discussing healthier options. Students have created informative posters to demonstrate their understanding of these concepts. It has also been pleasing to see some of the students becoming more mindful of the food and snacks they are bringing to school.
