Reading   

In Reading, students will be engaging in the text ‘Uncle Xbox’ by Jared Thomas. Engaging in real-aloud and shared reading. 

Uncle Xbox explores themes of First Nations culture, connection through to country, family and resilience. Dusty’s journey to finding joy in surfing and culture. 

Dusty’s story highlights the importance of connection to culture and country, nature in comparison to digital obsession, resilience and coming of age. 

Students will be learning from non-fiction texts about Captain James Cook, First Fleet, Invasion of Victoria and Colonial Australia. These non-fiction texts will provide students with the knowledge to complete their Writing task.
