Religious Education  

Over the first two weeks of the term, students will explore the Eucharist as an act of thanksgiving, tracing its origins from Old Testament foreshadowing to its institution by Jesus at the Last Supper. They will reflect on Jesus as the Bread of Life and the Lamb of God, while discovering how God continues to speak to them through the Liturgy of the Word.

Students will then explore the structure and meaning of the Mass, centered on the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Students will examine how the Liturgy of the Eucharist serves as spiritual nourishment for our journey, acting as medicine for the soul rather than a reward. Through a study of sacred objects and active participation, students will learn how to prepare their hearts to receive Christ worthily and carry that mission into the world. 

Students will then explore how the Eucharist joins people closer to Christ and sends them forth to act as His disciples in the world. Participating in the Eucharist calls people to live differently by loving, forgiving, and serving others as Jesus did. Through this sacrament, students are strengthened to resist temptation and are commissioned to transform their daily lives, including their friendships and challenges into a meaningful offering to God.
