Rector's Report

Greetings to you all!
Welcome back to Term 3 at your college. Like most terms, this one promises to be a busy time around the college especially for our graduating Year 12 class of 2025. Next week we will commence our process of interviews for our Year 7 cohort for 2027. This will be a nervous yet exciting time for these young men and their fmailies as they prepare for the next stage of their life’s journey.
Oblate History
This month we remembered the 121st arrival of the first Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on Australian shores on Thursday July 19 1894. The Oblates arrived at the Port of Fremantle to commence their missionary work in an industrial school at Glendalough, Subiaco for young boys and the care of St Patrick’s Parish, Fremantle. The Oblates are still present in Western Australia but eventually accepted an offer to expand their missionary activities by moving East to undertake the pastoral care of the parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea in Sorrento , Victoria in 1926.
35th Anniversary of Priesthood
On Sunday July 13th I celebrated my 35th anniversary of priesthood. I was fortunate to celebrate this occasion with family, Oblates and parishioners at Immaculate Heart of Mary parish, Newborough (my home parish where I was ordained) on Saturday evening and then on the actual day at St Kieran’s, Moe.
Statue of Mary
A rediscovered Marian statue and plaque have been installed in one of the garden beds in our recently redeveloped courtyard. Thanks to our maintenance team for their efforts in cleaning and installing the statue and plaque. The attached plaque has the following inscription:
This Statue was donated by the Ching family in memory of a loving mother and wife and through the generosity of the Mazenod Year Seven Students of 1999.
Rosies Oblate Mission
On Wednesday evening July 9 three members, Helen, Agnes and Karen from the Mazenod P & F volunteered for a street experience with our Rosies Oblate Mission. On the evening, they were accompanied by Lynne who is the P & F Representative from our Mazenod Staff.
