MOCA Dinner with our Sporting Clubs

Last Wednesday evening, our Mazenod Old Collegians’ Association (MOCA) held a dinner with the leaders of our Sporting Clubs at the Last Piece Restaurant in Mulgrave. This evening provided us with a wonderful opportunity to reaffirm and strengthen MOCA’s connection with our Sporting Clubs.

After all, our sporting clubs provide their members, most of whom are former Collegians, with a tangible connection to the College. Both MOCA and our Sporting Clubs work in conjunction with one another in supporting our former students, promoting games, functions and events, and simply in assisting our Clubs to develop further and to grow. The evening was a fantastic way for us to catch up in an informal environment, share our ideas, support one another, and have a wonderful evening together.

The Last Piece Restaurant is situated at Shop 7/2 Stadium Court, Mulgrave, (Waverley Park).

Damian Satragno (MOC2008): Head Chef @ The Black Toro, Glen Waverley

During the recent school holidays, the Executive Team of our Parents and Friends Committee caught up for dinner at The Black Toro Restaurant, in Glen Waverley. This decision was triggered by the fact that they had met the Head Chef, Damian Satragno, (MOC 2008) at our MOCA Taste of Mazenod Function at the College in March this year.

At our function, our Parents and Friends Executive Team had been so impressed with Damian’s delicious corn and cheese empanadas that they were keen to sample the full menu. According to our P and F Team, the array of Mexican and Latin American dishes on offer were extremely tasty, and they are now planning to bring their families to try Damian’s food. Next time they hope to eat a little less, so that they can make room to enjoy Damian’s desserts.

As one of our typical Old Boys, Damian was so warm and welcoming of our P and F Team, that he came out to chat with them after their dinner. He fondly reminisced about his days at Mazenod.

Damian’s late Mum, Giovanna, actively supported our Ladies’ Auxiliary as it was called during Damian and his brother, Fabian’s (MOC 2003) days at Mazenod. Like Damian, Giovanna was a fabulous cook, so it is so beautiful to see Damian’s wonderful support of our P and F.

The Black Toro is situated at 79 Kingsway, Glen Waverley.
