Principal's Report

Dear SEPS Families,

Parents Battle of The Bands

In the sentiments of a TV judge, all I can say is ‘FAB-U-LOUS’! Our parents are absolute superstars. What a night!! We staff members had so much fun and it was also great to see some of our parents there supporting the band. I was blown away by our talented team. Carpool Tunnel Syndrome definitely got the loudest cheers and applause. While we didn’t win on the night, our band were definite winners in our eyes! It is hard to believe they only formed a few weeks back, no gimmicks or sequins, just pure talent!. My husband Joe said he would pay to see them again, they were so good! Hampton PS had the most supporters so I am hoping that SEPS will be there in full force next year and take out the biggest crowd award!

If you are interested in attending the finals - Northside vs Southside Finals Battle, it will be held at the Corner Hotel on the 18th of September. Tickets are available on the PBOB website.

Pizza & Planes

A reminder that we have our Pizza & Planes event next Thursday 21 August starting at 6pm in the gym. This will be a great opportunity for our SEPS dads and father figures to come to school with their children and engage in a fun 90 minute, complete with paper plane challenges, pizza and a meet and greet with AFL legend Rodney Eade. This event launches our new initiative to support all the men in our SEPS community to connect and engage in events designed especially for them. Peter Dee, one of our Prep Dads, is very keen to lead this so please look out for more correspondence from him.

Dinosaur World

A huge thank you to Wilko, Safety Sue and Ms Cullen for giving up their Sunday to bring Wilko’s vision alive for Science Week. We are so lucky to have such passionate educators at Sandy East. Other principals were visiting this week and were very impressed by the time and effort that has gone in to providing a memorable learning experience for our entire school. If you have not yet had a chance to pop in for a sneak peek, the exhibit will be open for another week in the STEM centre (main building).

Official Opening

This morning we welcomed Ryan Bathchelor (MP), Member for Southern Metropolitan, Michael Devine, Executive Director for Bayside Peninsula and our Clarke Hopkins Clarke architects, to a special assembly where they officially opened our new buildings. Our school captains were once again excellent ambassadors for our school. We celebrated in true Aussie style with a sausage sanga, expertly cooked by our helpers from Kelly Club OOSC. A big thank you to our partners from Free Agency (our casual relief teacher agency) for once again dropping off their BBQ trailer for us to use. We are lucky to have community partners who are always ready to jump in and help when we have an event.

Seeking a Planner

If there happens to be a SEPS parent who is a planner, School Council would love to hear from you to seek some input regarding building development in our area. Please contact me via the office if you can assist.

Have a great fortnight ahead everyone.
