Duke of Edinburgh

Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Journey

With the forecast set to be mid 30s, the Bronze Duke participants set out to survive in D'Aguillar National Park with minimal equipment and minimal teacher assistance. Survival was an understatement, these students thrived. From the very start, they worked as a team, singing, navigating and encouraging each other along. Through hot afternoons and very steep hills, they kept their team together and enjoying (almost all) the journey.

Highlights included the amazing sleeping tarp set ups, afternoon lazing in the creek, the gourmet Trangia dinners and a hole in the ground complete with rock decorated toilet seat!

It was an honour to watch these students overcome the challenges of their Bronze Qualifying Journey and embrace a night in the bush with such big smiles.
