Spring is Sprung!

Term Four will be a busy time for the Sustainability Group with the creation of "The Garden Project." We will be reinstating a section of the Sustainability/Kitchen Gardens with a proposed Wellbeing Area encompassing natives, scented blooms and flowers for the Chapel. Preparation has begun this week with the clearing of soil for the Corten panels, to screen the existing gas tank, with wicking beds, irrigation and plants to follow in the next few weeks.

The Garden project will benefit students, the College and wider community by further closing the loop on organic waste management by increasing the existing composting beds and the distribution of organic waste bins throughout the College, Canteen and Boarding.

The project will incorporate water saving wicking beds for vegetables/fruits with companion planting practices, food forests, herb/medicinal beds and the transfer of our current worms from their existing worm farms to the new wicking beds (to enjoy their larger,  luxury accommodation!) - all of which will allow for best practice, organic food production. The gardens will hopefully be a place where staff and students can connect with each other and allow students that wish to be involved, the opportunity to participate in hands-on sustainability practices.
