National Simultaneous Storytime 2025: 

The Truck Cat

Last Wednesday, Kalinda participated in National Simultaneous Storytime, a fun nationwide event in which schools, libraries, kindergartens, daycares, and even families at home join up to read the same book on the same day, to celebrate books and reading. This year’s book was The Truck Cat, a beautiful story about cats and humans, immigration and identity, and homes lost and found. Both Foundation and Grades 1/2 enjoyed the book together in the library with Martina. 

Some comments about their favourite parts of the books:

“I liked the big truck.”

“My favourite part was when the cat was chasing the butterfly.”

“I liked when Tinka and the baby were running around together.”

“I liked the bit with the baby.”

“I liked when Yacoub found Tinka and Mari.”

“My favourite bit was ALL of it!”

Lamont Book Fair - THANK YOU!

A huge thank you to our Kalinda community for making this year’s Book Fair such a successful event. Thanks to your generosity, Kalinda has earned a whopping $1597.20 in commission, which we can now spend on new books and resources for the library, classroom libraries, and the school.

We cannot thank you enough!
