Kalinda Crews Bridge Challenge

Last week our Kalinda Crews were set a fun challenge!

Crews were split into groups of 3 to see who could build the strongest bridge - but it wasn’t that simple!

Each group had just 20 minutes, some scrap paper and 50cm of tape to create their bridge. The design had to meet three criteria: it needed to support as many unifix blocks as possible, be high enough for a matchbox car to drive underneath and stay standing for at least 30 seconds under the weight.

Suffice to say, our multi-aged groups had an absolute blast tackling this challenge! They weren't just building bridges, they were building memories with their fellow crew members.

Beyond the laughter and excitement, this activity encouraged students to work collaboratively, think creatively and persist through trial and error. It was a fantastic way to strengthen resilience, communication, critical thinking and teamwork, all while having loads of fun!
