Mrs Kathy Berg
2024 has been a massive year for sport at Greensborough College. We were very successful at a division level with 17 teams (at the time of writing) qualifying to compete at the Northern Metropolitan Championships and 7 of these teams qualified for the State Championships.
GC Pool Party
GC pool party was a such a fun way to welcome the students back for the new school year. It was so great to see some many students dressing in house colours and getting into the spirit if the day. Students had a great time getting involved in all the day has to offer. We saw a number of amazing swimming performances and some very impressive bombing techniques.
The following students qualified for Northern Metropolitan Region Championships Amity, Ashley, Troy and Lily with a special mention to Amity who set a new division record for Girls 17 years 50m Breaststroke and Ashley who also set a new division record for Boys 15 Years Breaststroke, both qualifying for the SSV State Championships.
Greensborough College Athletics Carnival
The College Athletics carnival one of the biggest days on the College’s sporting calendar, and once again was a great success. We saw some fantastic costumes, amazing athletic performances and some extremely close finishes.
20 Students qualified for NMR Athletics and Deena Gerges, Ryan Commandeur, and Josh Fitzgerald went on to compete the at SSV State Track and Field Championships.

Ashley performance was outstanding coming 1st in 50m breaststroke and 2nd in 200IM.

Josh, Henry and Winnie Fitzgerald and Jaidyn Freestone represented the College at the State Cross Country Championships. All students did extremely well, with Josh Fitzgerald coming 5th and the combined effort of the boys getting them 2nd as a team!
Track and Field
Ryan Commandeur, Josh Fitzgerald and Deena Gerges represented Greensborough College at the SSV State Track and Field championships.
All did extremely well, and represented themselves and the College proudly.
Girls Football
The girls did such an amazing job qualifying for the state championships, especially as the girls were competing in the Intermediate competition, with a significant proportion of the team being made up of Year 7 and 8 students. The girls did an amazing job on the day. They played in a very intense tight game, only missing out on the final by a narrow margin.
This puts this team into the top of Intermediate Girls State Schools football teams.
At the time of writing the following team had not yet competed in the State Championships
Congratulations to all students who participated in sport this year. Whether it was a school carnival, division, NMR or state, you were all amazing and instilled the college values Courage, Aspiration, Respect and Equality.
Thank you to all the staff for the continued support of the sport program. From going out to Division, NMR and State sports to assisting in the running of the pool party and athletics carnivals, your assistance and support is invaluable and greatly appreciated.
