Athletic Development Programme

2024 has truly been an exciting year to see the huge benefits and incredible improvements in our athletes’ performances. The data shows that our ADP students have the highest attendance rates in the school…and for a good reason! Why would you want to miss out on any of these awesome sessions?

Our students are constantly aiming to better themselves and are always striving for their best performance especially with the close watch and constant encouragement from Coach Cam and Coach Taylah.

When reflecting on all their biggest achievements in ADP for 2024 it was very pleasing to hear that our students are noticing substantial improvements within their sport performances and athleticism outside of school. The improvement in their sport is no doubt because of the advances in their athletic performance (strength, power, agility etc), their improved recovery strategies and injury management and the extra specialised sports coaching many of them have received.  The hard work of our students and coaches is paying off!

We can’t wait to see what you do and what we can help you achieve in 2025!

Wellbeing

As the year comes to a close, we reflect on the many important events and initiatives we’ve celebrated at Greensborough College. This year, we proudly acknowledged IDAHOBIT, Wear It Purple, RUOK Day, NAIDOC/Reconciliation Week, Mental Health Month, Anti-Bullying Week, and Pride Month, Trans Awareness Week, the 16 Days of Activism, and the International Day of People with Disability.

This year, a variety of programs were delivered across different year levels, focusing on key topics related to student wellbeing, relationships, and personal development.

In Term 2, our Year 7 cohort participated in the Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment (SASH) program, run by our school nurse Jess during their Connect classes. This program covered vital topics such as consent, sexual harassment, and sexual assault, and was met with positive engagement from all students.

During Term 4, Jess also delivered the Love Bites program to our Year 8 students. This 8-week program focused on respectful relationships, bullying, and gender. Students explored themes including respect in relationships, gender roles and stereotypes, jealousy, sexual harassment, and homophobia. They also learned strategies to challenge harassment and discrimination, as well as how to seek help when needed.

Additionally, our Year 9 and 10 students took part in a Health Day that featured the Man Cave and Flourish Journey programs, alongside a presentation from Banyule Youth Services. These sessions provided our students with valuable insights and tools to navigate important topics such as mental health, relationships, body image and respectful relationships.

We also launched our partnership with the Eat Up Program this year, providing nutritious meals to students in need. This initiative has been invaluable, offering sandwiches, yoghurts, and fruit to students facing food insecurity or requiring additional support.

As you can see it has been a busy but rewarding year for both students and staff. We look forward to a well-deserved break before embarking on an exciting 2025!

Library

2024 has been another fantastic year for the Greensborough College library. Each year our space grows and welcomes new faces who bring new ideas and activities to enrich student break time. Our SCR worked with our leadership team to have the L5 classroom turned into a quiet study space this year which has welcomed many pre-test cram sessions for our junior students.

This year the library has purchased 100’s of new books and significantly updated our collection. With almost all of the books purchased being student suggestions it’s encouraging to see that a love of reading is alive at the college.

A warm thank you to all of the students, staff and families who have helped make the library such a vibrant heart of the school. Without your support, suggestions and advice the library would not be able to cater to the wide range of student needs that it has been able to in 2024. We look forward to seeing what 2025 will hold and how a new influx of students will help grow and change our library.
