As the year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been an incredible year at Greensborough College. Our school community is truly special, and my most cherished memories are often the small, meaningful interactions that happen each day. Whether it’s a quick chat with a student in the yard, a phone call with a parent, or a tour with a family considering our school, I’m constantly reminded how fortunate I am to be part of such a warm and welcoming community.
Looking back, there have been many achievements to celebrate, and I’d like to share a few highlights as we prepare for the new year:
Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Recently, eight of our staff members completed Youth Mental Health First Aid Training, led by our School Nurse, Jess Manzie. This nationally accredited program equips educators with the tools to identify and support students experiencing mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, and eating disorders.
The training also provides strategies for assisting students in crisis and guiding them toward professional help. By fostering greater awareness and understanding, we continue to prioritise the mental health and wellbeing of our young people. This is another important step in building a safe and supportive environment where all students feel valued and cared for.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about opportunities to expand this training to include more staff and students in 2025.
Buildings and Grounds
With the college continuing to grow, we’re making important upgrades to enhance the quality and number of our learning spaces. Highlights include:
These developments are part of our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality facilities that support student learning and engagement.
Geelong Foreshore Celebration Day
To cap off the year, the Senior School Team organised a fantastic celebration day for our Year 10 and 11 students at the Geelong foreshore. While swimming wasn’t an option, students had a great time wading, playing beach games, and enjoying fun activities with their teachers. The day was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to relax, connect, and celebrate the end of classes together.
Wishing You a Wonderful Break
As we wrap up 2024, I want to express my gratitude to all students, families, and staff for your contributions to our school community. Your support, resilience, and positivity make Greensborough College such a vibrant and inspiring place to work and learn.
I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved break, filled with rest, laughter, and time with loved ones. I look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year for what promises to be another exciting year for our school.
