Safe Around Schools 

The City of Casey, Safe Around Schools team, is writing to provide the community with an e-scooter, e-bike, and helmet safety information pack found below.

The pack supports schools and families with clear, current information about the legal requirements for e-scooters and e-bikes, including age restrictions, safety obligations, and penalties.

Across Casey, we are increasingly seeing students under 16 arriving at school using e‑scooters and certain e‑bikes, despite these not being permitted under Victorian road rules. During peak school times, this has resulted in unsafe behaviours, with a heightened risk to students, pedestrians, and road users. These concerns are shared by schools, families, and the broader community, particularly considering the increased risk of serious injury when helmets are not worn or rules are not followed.
