Principal Report 

This is my last newsletter that I will write before I retire on Friday August 14. When asked what makes Oatlands Primary School a great school, my first go to answer is the culture; that is the Values, Attitudes and Behaviours (VABs) of our Oatlands family. Some of the VABs that come to mind are how we show respect, kindness, patience, helpfulness, effort and how we use our manners. At Oatlands we are so fortunate to have staff who care and want to make a difference, students who care and want to do their best and a parent community who contributes to, and supports, our school so much. 

There is no doubt about it, I will miss Oatlands. The smiles, the greetings, the laughs, the positive atmosphere, the kindness and the respect. Over the years I would have conducted hundreds of school tours and as I take prospective parents around our school, I am continually impressed with our students’ effort, behaviour and respect that we see. At times it even feels like the school tours are a set-up, similar to the movie The Truman Show. However, this is what Oatlands is like all the time.

To our Oatlands community (staff, students, parents and guardians) I say thank you. Educating students needs our whole school community and you continually contribute to this goal day in and day out.

Thank you for your contribution to the education of our students. Our school is great because of you!

In the future I know that Oatlands will be in good hands with Mr Kenny, Ms Morgan, Ms White and our teaching and support staff. I know that the Oatlands culture will flourish in the years ahead! 

When retired I am looking forward to hearing about how Oatlands continues to thrive into the future and the students whose lives have been set up for such a positive future.
