Scholastic Book Fair - A Huge Success!
The Library was abuzz with excitement for our annual Scholastic Book Fair. On Day 1 our Library resembled the Boxing Day sales!
We would like to sincerely thank our St Patrick’s community for your support with this very popular event in our Library space. Each year, we continue to look at ways to accommodate the enthusiasm of our Book Fair and we have already put plans in place for this busy event for 2027.
Thanks to the amazing support and generosity of our families our Book Fair sold over $18,400 worth of books! This is a record amount for St Patrick’s. We are overwhelmed by your generosity and we also appreciate the many books donated to our library. In the past we have used proceeds generated from Book Fair for classroom resources to support our students' learning and new library books.
Congratulations to our raffle prize winners Vasili and Savannah!
Finally, a huge thanks to our wonderful St Patrick’s staff for their support of Book Fair. In particular, we could not run this event without our dedicated Learning Support Team. They really were an army of strength and we thank them for their dedication to Book Fair each year.
Marilyn Cosgrove Award
Congratulations to our Marilyn Cosgrove Award nominees and to our overall winner Thomas. The prestigious Marilyn Cosgrove Award is presented annually during Book Week in memory of Marilyn Cosgrove, a former teacher at St Patrick's and a celebrated author. This award honours one student from each class who has shown a strong love for reading or writing, or who has made significant progress in these areas. We congratulate Thomas and wish him well on his reading journey.
Illustrator David Legge visits St Patrick’s
Popular children’s book illustrator David Legge visited St Patrick’s this week and enthralled our Yr 4-6 students with his craft. After emigrating to Australia from England in 1989 David developed a love of children's picture books which is now his favorite field of illustration. Bamboozled, the first book that he both wrote and illustrated, won the Honour Book in the 1995 Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Awards. Next week we welcome author Deborah Abela. We thank Mrs Hill and Mrs Gill for these wonderful opportunities for our students during our Book Week celebrations.

Popular titles for our students so far have been Derek by Anne Donaldson/Matt Shanks, Bob and Dob by Sean E Avery and Dear Broccoli by Jo Dabrowski/Cate James.
Book Week Parade 2026!
What a celebration of reading and literature at St Patrick’s this morning! It was wonderful to see our students dressed as their favourite book characters and we look forward to sharing more photos in the coming weeks.
