We recently caught up with Chanel Brunskill from the Class of 2025 and asked her a few questions.

"My favourite memory would be the relationships I created with my teachers. In Year 7, I just saw my teachers as teachers. Fast forward to Year 12, and I realised that not only I, but many other students were able to build real connections with our teachers, which made the year fly past!

My study tips would be to stay organised, such as keeping all your notes in one place and knowing when your SACs are scheduled. Also, make use of all the teachers at Koonung. Go to other teachers who teach your subject and ask questions, because it can help you understand the content in different ways.

Overall, my biggest help was having faith in God. Try to keep a positive mindset because, in the end, it’s all going to work out for the best.

This year I’m studying nursing. Once I finish my course and become a registered nurse, I hope to become a paediatric nurse and work with children. God willing, I would love to work at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Alongside my nursing course, I am also completing a course through my church so that I can take on a future leadership position and help with the kids."

Sanul graduated from Koonung Secondary College in 2025. We recently caught up with him and asked 3 questions about his favourite memories of Koonung, study tips for Year 12 students and what he will be doing this year.

"My favourite memories at Koonung would definitely be at Inter-school volleyball in Year 12 with all of my friends playing with me and some against from Blackburn it felt really special as it was the last time we all got to play together.

I would definitely advise that the current Year 12’s prioritise doing practice exams, reviewing them and consulting their teachers when they are struggling. I did find that my teachers, like Mr Yuen for legal studies and Ms Zhang for psychology were a huge help when it came to doing practice exams.

This year I am studying Environmental Science at RMIT University and continuing volleyball at RMIT’s volleyball club."

We recently caught up with James Stamp from the Class of 2025 and asked him 3 questions.

Favourite memory/memories from your time at Koonung?

"My favorite memory from Koonung was definitely our year 12 excursion to Moonlit Sanctuary where we got to see and learn about several endangered Australian animals. The privilege of first being able to use the microwaves in the senior centre to have a warm lunch during winter is a close second though."

One or two study tips for our current Year 12 students?

"Personally, I found hand writing a quick page of key notes for each sac super helpful for revision and just recalling key details for the assessment. And whilst its pretty clique, staying consistent with studying and letting yourself find time for hobbies really helps to keep stress levels under control especially when you find yourself with a busy SAC calendar. "

What will you be doing this year?

"This year I'll be studying Environmental Science at Deakin which has just started. Outside of study I'm excited for potential international competition for canoe slalom!"
