Connect Days
Year 9 Connect Day Wednesday 25 March
On Wednesday 25 March, our Year 9 Students participated in the final Connect Day for Term 1. The Year 9 theme, “Respect in Action: Building a Stronger Community,” focused on strengthening peer relationships, promoting positive online behaviours, and preparing students for the opportunities and challenges ahead. Throughout the day, students engaged in a range of targeted workshops and activities including:
Project Rockit – ‘Rally’ Workshop
We were pleased to welcome an external presenter from Project Rockit, who ran an interactive session exploring different forms of bullying, both online and offline. The workshop focused on building empathy and empowering students with practical strategies to safely intervene and take positive action, encouraging a culture where everyone plays a role in creating a respectful community and being upstanders within it.

Class vs Class Gameshow Quiz
Students participated the first two rounds of the day’s Class vs Class Competition in the form of a Gameshow Quiz. The teacher of each class was given a buzzer and working as a team, students and their teacher had to buzz in as quickly as possible to answer a variety of general knowledge and Koonung related questions.
Butterfly Foundation Presentation
Our presenter, Chloe from the Butterfly Foundation, explored how societal and social media influences can shape body image and self-perception. Students learned strategies to challenge negative self-talk, reduce unhealthy comparisons, respond to appearance-based bullying, and promote kindness towards themselves and others.
Team Building Activities
In the final rounds of the Class vs Class competition, students participated in a variety of games on the hockey pitch to earn their class points (including tunnel ball, caterpillar races, the minute challenge and create a word). Overall winners of the day were 9B, followed in second place by both 9C and 9D, and third place 9H.
It was fantastic to see our Year 9 students actively participating and supporting one another throughout the day. We look forward to continuing to build on this momentum during future Connect Days for our Year 9 students as were begin to explore a focus on Careers and transitioning into Senior School in upcoming Connect Days.
