                                 Melbourne Synod 2026:                                   'Young Discipleship'

1. Purpose and Context 

• The document is part of the Melbourne Synod's effort to discern how the Church can better proclaim the Gospel, focusing on young discipleship, missionary leadership, and faith formation.

• It invites reflection on how the Holy Spirit is guiding the Archdiocese, especially in accompanying young people in faith.

   

 2. The Call to Discipleship

• Gen Z values authenticity, relational engagement, and opportunities for leadership and community. 

• Digital environments are important for fostering connection and synodal participation. 

   

5. Embark: Movement into Mission 

• Discipleship leads outward to mission-living and sharing faith in daily life, not just in dramatic acts. 
• Young people are motivated by purpose and impact; they respond when trusted with responsibility and leadership. 

• Mission is lived in families, schools, workplaces, and through acts of service and integrity.
