Deputy Principal's Message

Dear Mother Teresa school community,
Firstly, I wanted to say a big thank you for giving me such a warm welcome. It has been so nice to be on the front gate in the morning and afternoon with students and parents saying good morning and good afternoon, asking how I am, introducing themselves and even speaking about the World Cup. I feel as though I am a part of the community already.
Over the next six months, I am hoping to continue the amazing work completed by Mr. Darren Gibson, focusing on PBL and helping to improve the wellbeing within the school. I have previously been in schools that have had PBL and through these schools have been a part of the PBL team where I have introduced and implemented the PBL structures. I feel as though I am aware of where the school is and where we can continue to grow in regards to our PBL journey.
I am looking forward to continuing to get to know the students, staff and families that make Mother Teresa the school that it is and hopefully if time allows me, to get outside and play a game of soccer with our students.
The PBL focus for the next fortnight will be I move safely which falls under the Safety category. Moving safely across the school is important to prevent injuries but to also create a safe and calm school environment. This expectation is one that should occur in all areas of the school and at all times such as moving between classrooms, when heading outside and moving to spaces such as the library and prayer space. By ensuring we move safely in our school we create a culture of calmness and an awareness of those around us.
Once again, thank you for welcoming me into your community and I look forward to meeting many more of you.
Kind regards,
Matt
