Principal's Report

It has been an absolute whirlwind of a term for me personally and I want to thank all the staff, students and parents that have made me feel welcome and helped me to settle in to Fitzroy High School.

Within the pages of this newsletter you will find great examples of the incredible opportunities that our students have had this term and this is an absolute credit to the amazing staff who make it all happen. Some personal highlights for me have included the night of excellence at Wurun Senior campus, the Year 9/10 camp and the end of year assembly where I got to speak to our current students about our plans for next year.

As we look forward to next year the leadership team and myself are very excited to have a clear purpose and vision for the school and to have been able to make some really important appointments to leadership positions for next year that are going to be able to drive that vision. At our most recent whole staff meeting I was able to define our purpose for next year which is to ensure that everyone has the skills, attributes and knowledge they require to thrive. This purpose will underpin all of the work we do next year, with our student and staff development,

We have also outlined 4 major priorities for the year:

  • Improving our communication
  • Reviewing our 7-10 Curriculum
  • Embedding New Metrics
  • Increasing are connection and collaboration with Collingwood College

These 4 priorities alongside our new mantra ‘Work Hard, Get Smart, Be Kind’ will help us to keep delivering the excellent educational opportunities we currently do whilst building our profile in our local community.

Thank you once again to the families, students and staff who have helped to define our goals for next year and are such great supporters and advocates for the school. I wish you all a great summer break and am looking forward to working with you all in 2026.
