Students Give Back to the Bibbulmun Track

Students from Years 8 and 9 recently had the opportunity to combine service, outdoor education and personal development during a maintenance trip to the Bibbulmun Track.

The group was made up of students completing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Compass Awards and Christian Service Learning (CSL). Working together, students spent the day undertaking important maintenance work along the track and around the Boarding House campsite, helping to ensure the area remains safe, accessible and enjoyable for future walkers.

Following a productive day on the track, the group camped overnight at the Boarding House campsite. The overnight experience added another important dimension to the trip, with students responsible for establishing camp, sharing meals and working together to maintain a safe and tidy campsite. 

The trip provided a great example of the values promoted at Mazenod College, particularly service, responsibility, community and care for the environment. Students should be proud of the contribution they made to the Bibbulmun Track and the wider outdoor community. The group saw the results of their efforts firsthand when two young hikers from South Australia stopped to comment on the positive difference the work had made to their hike.

A special thank you goes to all the students who gave their time and effort to make the trip a success. Their willingness to serve others and care for our natural environment reflects the spirit of Christian Service Learning and the personal growth encouraged through the Duke of Edinburgh and Compass Award programs.
