With just two weeks of the school year remaining, our Year 12 students are encouraged to make the most of the opportunities available to them as they prepare for life beyond Mazenod. These final weeks provide an important opportunity for students to strengthen their résumés, develop their interview skills and ensure they are well prepared for employment, further study or training.
The final round of Workplace Learning provides students with valuable practical experience, allowing them to develop workplace skills, establish industry connections and gain a greater understanding of their chosen industry. These experiences can significantly enhance a student's résumé and provide valuable evidence of their employability when applying for future employment, apprenticeships or traineeships.
Full-time TAFE applications opened on 3 September and will close on 30 October, with offers released on 3 December. As some TAFE courses are highly competitive, students are encouraged to ensure their résumé, qualifications and certificates are current, accurate and presented to a high standard.
CERT IV OPTIONS
Many of our Year 11 students have enrolled in TAFE or going through the process of enrolling in UniPrep courses for 2027. For students who are not participating in UniReady, a Certificate IV can also be completed as a standalone subject option.
Please note that, following recent SCSA changes, only the Certificate IV in Nursing and Certificate IV in Education will contribute towards WACE graduation requirements. While there are other Certificate IV courses available, students considering these options should discuss their individual pathway with the Careers team to ensure they are on track to meet their WACE requirements.
COLLEGE OF ELECTRICAL TRAINING
The College of Electrical Training PreApp for Year 10 students are now closed – students that have completed the expression of interest will be required to sit an academic readiness test on Tuesday the 15 September.
CTF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
This fully funded program offers students the opportunity to work towards a Certificate II in Building and Construction, Plumbing or Plumbing while still attending school.
Depending on their chosen pathway, selected students will attend an RTO one day a week for a year, students will also have the chance to gain practical experience through on-site work. As part of the program, CTF will cover the cost of all uniforms and boots and course tuition, and we will offer ongoing mentoring and support, along with other wraparound services. Students must complete work placement within the chosen industry.

- Term 4: Weeks 7 & 8 – 23rd November – 3rd December (two weeks WPL – no exams)
Year 11:
- Term 4: Weeks 6–7 – 16th –27th November
Year 12:
- Term 4: Weeks 1–2 – 12th –22nd October (Graduation Friday, Week 1)
FULLY FUNDED TAFE COURSE FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS
Applications for both South and North Metro TAFE are now closed. TAFE representatives will be in touch with me early in Term Four. Once I receive further information, I will contact you and your son directly.
