Junior Soccer – SSWA Group Stage
The Mazenod College Junior Soccer Team travelled to Southern River College for their final match of the SSWA group stages, looking to finish the group stage strongly after two impressive performances in their previous games.
Mazenod started the match brightly and immediately put pressure on the Southern River defence. Harry O and Cooper M both went close, with Mazenod striking the post on three occasions. Cooper M also forced an outstanding save from the Southern River goalkeeper as Mazenod looked the more dangerous side early in the contest.
Unfortunately, the momentum shifted when Southern River scored two quick goals, giving them the advantage going into the remainder of the match. Mazenod continued to compete strongly but Southern River were able to extend their lead and eventually secured a 4–1 victory.
Harry O provided a late highlight for Mazenod, scoring a well-deserved goal to finish off another competitive performance from the team.
While the result was not what the team had hoped for, the Junior Soccer Team can be proud of their efforts throughout the group stages and the significant improvement shown across the season.
A big thank you to all the parents who travelled to support the team. Your encouragement from the sidelines is greatly appreciated.

Mazenod Junior Soccer Team Bounces Back with Convincing Victory
The Mazenod Junior Soccer Team returned to Coker Park on Wednesday determined to respond after their previous match against Australian Islamic College. The team delivered a much-improved performance across the park, displaying great teamwork, effort and determination.
Mazenod controlled much of the match and finished with a convincing 5–1 victory over Cannington Community College. Tom G was outstanding in front of goal, scoring a brilliant hat-trick to lead the way in a strong team effort.
Congratulations to all the students on their improvement and commitment throughout the match. A big thank you also goes to the parents who came along to support the team.

Mazenod ACC All Stars Football
Congratulations to the following Mazenod students on their selection in the ACC All Stars Football Team.

Following an exhausting selection process, these boys have been selected to represent the ACC who will be playing a combined SSWA (Government Schools) team on Friday 11 September at Fremantle Oval 2:30pm bouncedown.

2026 Sportsman of the Year Nominations
Nominations are now open for the Junior (Years 7–9) and Senior (Years 10–12) Sportsman of the Year Awards - the highest sporting honour presented each year at Mazenod College, announced at the Sports Awards Evening in Term 4.
Students who meet the criteria below are encouraged to nominate. Nomination forms are available from the HPE Office.
Nomination Criteria
Represented Mazenod in three or more sporting teams this year (e.g. Year 8/9 Football Team, ACC Athletics Team, SSWA Basketball Team).
Achieved excellence through high performance in at least one of these teams, or in House sport competitions (e.g. Champion Boy or Runner-Up, Best and Fairest, Most Consistent).
Displayed sportsmanship and dedication to Mazenod College and associated club sporting teams.
Nominations close Thursday 24 September (Week 10). Completed forms should be submitted to the HPE Office.

ACC Athletics Team 2026
Congratulations to the students who have been selected in the ACC Athletics Team to represent Mazenod at the ACC Athletics Carnival next Wednesday, 16 September, at the State Athletics Stadium. The Preliminary team has been training hard since Week 3, and is looking to get some strong results at the A Division Carnival. A big thanks to all the students and staff coaches who have put in the effort at training.
