Wellbeing - Middle School

As many families may be aware, I have recently commenced in the role of Acting Director of Middle School. I am looking forward to working alongside our students, staff and families and helping to build on the strong foundations already established within the Middle School.
I am particularly excited to reconnect with our Year 7 and Year 8 students, many of whom I had the privilege of working closely with during their time in the Junior School. It has been wonderful to see their growth and development, and I look forward to continuing to support them as they navigate the opportunities and challenges of these important years.
I am also eager to continue to support the pastoral and wellbeing needs of our Year 5 and 6 students to ensure that every student feels known, supported and encouraged to achieve their personal best.
One of the highlights of the past week was seeing our Year 5 and Year 6 students spend a lunchtime with our Year 12 students on SPC 2. It was wonderful to watch our youngest and oldest students connect through games, conversation, and shared experiences. Moments like these remind us that the friendships, memories and sense of belonging formed during the younger years remain highly valued, even as students prepare to graduate.
As the term concludes, I encourage all students and families to take advantage of the holiday break to rest, reset and enjoy quality time together. The holidays provide an important opportunity to recharge before the busy and exciting final term of the year.
Term 4 will be particularly significant for our Middle School students. Year 8 will begin preparing for their transition into Senior School, Year 7 will embark on Camp, Year 6 will look ahead to their first year of high school, and the Year 5 cohort will begin considering leadership opportunities in Stage 3. These important milestones bring new opportunities, greater independence, and exciting challenges, and we look forward to supporting our students every step of the way.
I wish all members of our Middle School community a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for a successful and rewarding Term 4.
