日本語(Nihongo)

The Japanese zodiac is based on a 12-year cycle. Our first lesson for Japanese class is the origin of the Japanese zodiac animals. This year is the Year of the Horse. In order, the 12 animals are: Mouse, Cow, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster/Chicken, Dog, Boar. If you were born in 2014, 2002, 1990 and 1978, you are a horse!

People born in the Year of the Horse are fond of freedom, Passionate, romantic, sentimental and faithful. Umm, I can see all these beautiful grade 6 students are coming from these personalities.

We have also started learning about feelings in Japanese! We check which zone you are in every lesson by asking "Genki desuka?" (How are you?), and students answer in Japanese.

We are planning to learn some position and direction words in Japanese, and to ask and answer "Sushi wa suki desuka?" (Do you like Sushi?) for Term 1.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions or share any suggestions for the Japanese class!
