This year, our College community marked Ash Wednesday with House liturgies led by our House Captains. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the liturgical season of Lent — the forty days leading up to Easter.

Lent is a sacred time of reflection and renewal, inviting us to turn away from sin and grow closer to God by living the message of the Gospel. It is traditionally observed through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving (charitable giving), encouraging us to deepen our faith through both personal reflection and acts of kindness towards others.

At Salvado Catholic College, we encourage all students during this season to make time for God through quiet prayer and reflection, to practise self-discipline by giving something up or offering their time in service to others, and to support those in need through acts of generosity for charitable organisations such as Caritas.

Year 7 Excursion to St Francis Xavier Catholic Church

In Week 2 this term, our Year 7 students celebrated Mass with Fr Mark at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church as part of their Religious Education program, which explores how Catholic communities support people in deepening their relationship with God.

Following Mass, students had the opportunity to ask Fr Mark many thoughtful questions and enjoyed a tour of the church, helping them to further understand the meaning and structure of Catholic worship.

We extend our sincere thanks to Fr Mark Baumgarten and the parish community for warmly welcoming our students. We also thank the College staff who supported the excursion. We commend our Year 7 students for their respectful participation — your reverence and engagement beautifully reflected the values of our College community.
