Grade 3 News

Welcome to week 7
In Grade 3, we have been exploring the book Finding Our Heart by Thomas Mayor. This text introduces students to important ideas about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and perspectives in a way that is meaningful and accessible for young learners.
Through this book, students are developing an understanding of respect, connection to Country, and the importance of listening to and valuing First Nations voices. We have also been discussing themes such as fairness, belonging, and how we can show kindness and respect within our community.
This learning supports our broader work in building cultural awareness and appreciation, helping students to recognise the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians.
In Mathematics, we have been learning about data representation. Students have been exploring how to collect, organise, and display information in meaningful ways, including using charts, graphs, and tables.
Through this topic, students are developing their ability to interpret data, ask questions about information, and draw simple conclusions based on what they observe. They are also learning how to present their own data clearly and accurately.
This learning supports students in building important problem-solving and analytical skills, while also helping them to make connections in real-world situations.
In Religion, we have been learning about Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Students have explored the story of Pentecost and its significance in the Christian faith, particularly how the Holy Spirit gave the disciples courage and guided them to share Jesus’ message.
Through this topic, students are developing an understanding of the role of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers and how it inspires actions such as kindness, courage, and helping others. We have also been discussing how these ideas can be reflected in our own daily lives and choices.
