Year 1 Update

Our Learning - Weeks 6 & 7

English	To read and write words containing 'oo' and 'le' following the Little Learners Love Literacy program. To understand the structure of narratives and recounts using mentor texts. To write short narratives and recounts using capital letters, full stops and describing words.
Maths	To name and identify the characteristics of regular and irregular shapes. To give and follow directions using positional language.
Inquiry	To understand how our actions can lead to positive changes for our planet. To identify areas in the classroom and at home where waste can be reduced, reused, and recycled.
SEL	To learn about which parts of our body are kept more private than others. To learn there are some early warning signs we can feel in our bodies when we don’t feel safe. To learn the difference between safe secrets and unsafe secrets.

Urban Upcycle Incursion - Thursday 4th September This term, Year 1 students are studying Sustainability for our Inquiry Unit, "Where does our Rubbish End Up?" This involves recycling, reusing and reducing waste. To complement this Inquiry unit, Urban Upcycle are coming to run an incursion where the students will make recycled creations. Please ensure you give consent and pay on Compass, so your child doesn't miss out.
Fathers' Day stall - Wednesday 3rd September to Friday 5th September Vouchers need to be purchased through Compass before the day. No cash will be accepted on the day.
Junior Swimming Program - Tuesday 9th – Friday 12th September. If you wish your child to participate in the swimming program, please provide consent and payment via Compass.
Fathers' Day morning- Friday, 5th September
Footy Day and last day of Term 3, 2.30pm dismissal - Friday, 19th September. Students are invited to dress in their footy team colours.
