Our Learning - Weeks 6 & 7
The children in the 3 and 4 year old kindergarten groups have been undertaking learning in the following areas:
Pre-Reading: Book walks - extracting information from pictures Using illustrations from picture story books as prompt for their artwork and developing their own storylines to accompany these Retelling familiar stories through small world play, art and dramatisations |
Pre-Writing: Signing in on arrival; writing their names on their work Creating letter shapes with loose parts and play dough Building muscle strength from core muscles, to shoulder and arm muscles and to hand and finger muscles |
STEM : Children to explore the concept of floating and sinking Children to explore shapes both 2D and 3D |
Inquiry : Our World, Many Stories- through stories we can explore our imagination and experience different cultures Dressing up in costume to act out familiar and imagined stories Making stick puppet characters from familiar stories Reading books representing different cultures |
Social & emotional learning : Exploring different emotions through storytelling Discussions about how to be kind and a good friend Group games involving sharing and turn-taking Developing resilience through group games |
Celebration of learning
Enrolments for free 3 and 4 year old sessional kindergarten.
Enrol through Casey Council for Hillsmeade Kindergarten.
Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.
