Foundation Unit

In Reading, students have been developing their knowledge about the 4 seasons. They have also been identifying key words to add to their vocabulary book.
In Writing, students have been using their vocabulary books when writing a factual sentence. The students were very excited to use words such as ‘meteorologist’ ‘deciduous’ and ‘harvest’ in their sentences!
In Maths, we have started to explore the topic of addition. Students have been learning to count on from the largest number using concrete materials and record number sentences. We have also looked at verbalising and writing our own worded problems. Students have created sentences such as “If there were 5 ladybugs in my garden, and 6 more joined, how many ladybugs are there altogether?”
Finally, the Foundation students recently celebrated their 100th day of school! We began the day by writing about what we will do when we are 100 years old. After recess, each student created a portrait of themselves at 100, using various craft materials. These look absolutely fantastic and you’ll find them hanging on the walls outside each Foundation classroom.
