Industrial Action

As mentioned in our last newsletter, an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement is still yet to be reached. There is further stop work action planned for Wednesday 19th August, unless an agreement is reached before this time. This is also the day we had set for our Mathslympics and Family Maths night. Currently we are unable to advise the impact the stop work may have on school operations or planned activities. We may have to move the date of our Mathslympics and Family Maths night, which we will advise of as soon as possible.

2027 Student Enrolment

We are reaching the time of year where we commence planning for 2027. Please note 2027 Foundation student enrolment forms were due last week, if you have a child commencing school in 2027, please bring your forms to the office as soon as possible. We are also asking any current Year 4 parents to advise if their child will be transitioning to Braemar College in 2027. This information allows us to commence planning for staffing, class sizes and programs on offer.

Sporting Schools Grant

Our recently purchased basketball backboards and rings were installed on Tuesday, this was made possible by the Sporting Schools grant we received recently. We have also purchased new padding for the poles and some further student equipment. We are hoping that our students enjoy the updated facilities and equipment, we are looking into replacement nets for our soccer goals and are hoping to have these ready to go soon.

Smile Squad

The Smile Squad team from Omnia Community Health wrapped up their visit at the end of last week. During the two weeks they were onsite they saw many of our students. This service is provided as part of a Victorian Government Dental Health initiative and is an important way for us to continue to support the health and wellbeing of our students.

Year 1 Phonics Check

This week our Year 1/2 team have commenced the annual Year 1 Phonics Check, this is a check that all Year 1 students take part in to ensure they are meeting benchmark expectations in their development of phonics knowledge. This is a vital skill that supports students in their reading and spelling. The assessment is undertaken during class time and will continue until next Friday.
