The week 5 & 6 focus for SWPBS is Respect - I will follow the Class Noise Level.

Each classroom has a consistent noise level chart to help create a calm, respectful and productive learning environment. Our fortnightly focus is to use the appropriate voice level for the activity we are doing. By following the agreed noise levels, students help minimise distractions and ensure everyone has the opportunity to learn successfully. Speaking at the correct volume also demonstrates respect for classmates, teachers and other learning spaces around the school. Whether students are working independently, collaborating with a partner or sharing ideas in a group, choosing the right noise level is an important part of being a responsible learner.

Students are encouraged to check the class voice level chart throughout the day and follow the number their teacher has selected. Whether it is working silently, whispering with a partner or participating in a group discussion, using the correct noise level helps everyone stay focused, feel respected and enjoy learning together.

How parents can support at home:

• Talk with your child about why different situations require different voice levels.

• Practise using quiet voices during activities such as reading, homework or family game time.

• Praise your child when they use an appropriate voice level in different settings.

• Encourage your child to think about how their voice can help create a calm and respectful environment for others.
