Children's Book Week (22nd - 29th August 2026)
It's almost here . . . my favourite WEEK of the year . . . CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK!
Yes, next week is Australia's annual Children's BOOK WEEK and with author & former Australian Children's Laureate - Gabrielle Wang - visiting Syndal South, a Book Character Dress Up Day plus other lively literary activities, it promises to be a most exciting and fun week indeed!
The winning Australian children's books for 2026 will be announced at https://cbca.org.au/childrens-book-week/ @12noon on Friday 21st August to kick off the week of celebrations. The shortlisted books are currently on display in the library and will be available for students to borrow after Book Week.
There will also be a "Design a Book Week 2027 Poster" competition for students to enter directly following Book Week 2026, when the CBCA announce the theme for next year (2027), so keep your eyes peeled and on the look out for that!
To celebrate new CHILDREN'S BOOKS in BOOK WEEK Syndal South Primary School together with Paper Bird Children's Books have set up a special BOOK REGISTRY, where families can select, purchase and donate a brand new book to the school library.
Students/families have their name inscribed in these books before they are added to the library collection for students to read, borrow and enjoy! To make a generous donation to the library please visit: https://paperbird.com.au/
Happy READING everyone!
