Keeping Our Students Safe at Kiss and Go

A reminder to all families about the importance of using our Kiss and Go parking area appropriately. The area is designed to keep traffic moving safely and efficiently while providing a safe place for students to be dropped off and collected. Please ensure that you follow the signage, remain with your vehicle and do not park or leave your car unattended in the Kiss and Go zone. Please be aware that parking and traffic management in the area is a Council responsibility and that we have been informed that Council are monitoring the area and issuing fines to vehicles. As always, our greatest priority is ensuring the safety of all students and families around the school.

Introducing the Number Fluency Project

This semester we are excited to introduce our Number Fluency Project, a new whole-school approach from Foundation to Year 6 designed to build students' confidence, accuracy and automaticity with number. Students will participate in a short, daily program focused on developing essential number knowledge and fluency, providing regular opportunities to practise and strengthen these important foundational skills. Developing strong number fluency supports students to work more efficiently and confidently as they tackle increasingly complex mathematical concepts and problem-solving.

A special thank you to the parents who generously volunteered their time to make many of the resources required for this program. Your support has helped us to establish a high-quality set of resources that students and teachers can use.

Thank You to Our Parents Association

A big thank you to our wonderful Parents Association for organising the Toastie Truck lunch for our students and staff. It was fantastic to see the excitement among the students and to provide such a fun lunchtime experience for our school community. Events such as these take a great deal of organisation and effort, and we are very grateful to the PA for the time and energy they continue to give to our school.

Bullying No Way Week (17-21 August)

At Syndal South Primary we are very proud of the positive culture that exists in our school, our classrooms and our playgrounds. All classes learn about positive friendships and social skills through our whole school approach which includes implementation of the URSTRONG Friendology program. The URSTRONG Friendology program is a skills-based friendship curriculum that teaches our children how to build healthy relationships and resolve conflicts. Through URSTRONG we teach our Syndal South students the language of ‘Mean on Purpose’ to articulate behaviour that is intentional, repetitive bullying behaviour requiring adult intervention.

To support this common language, understanding and skill development. We are looking forward to being part of Australia’s Bullying No Way Week this year. SSPS students will join schools Australia-wide for the Kids Helpline’s largest anti-bullying lesson which will help equip students to take a stand against bullying. Learn more here: https://kidshelpline.info/antibullying_lesson. The sessions are tailored to be age appropriate for the different age-groups across the school. Students will watch the session with their classroom teacher who will be there to respond to any questions or discussions that may arise throughout the session. The Kid’s Helpline session will further support students in identifying ‘Mean on Purpose’ behaviour and how to seek help.
