YEAR 8
Could your building survive an earthquake?
Our Year 8 STEAM students took on the challenge of designing and building earthquake-resistant structures using only toothpicks and marshmallows! Working as engineering teams, they explored how real engineers use strong foundations, cross-bracing and clever design to help buildings withstand earthquakes.
The ultimate test? Placing their creations on an earthquake simulator to see which designs could survive the shaking! It was a fantastic hands-on STEM activity that encouraged creativity, teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving.
